Loutra
Here Jesuit monks and nuns Ursulines built their monasteries, changing Loutra into an important religious center of Tinos.
Kampos
The special homeland of Agia Pelagia, with the traditional washers and the Museum of Kostas Tsoclis, in the center of the heartland. Two churches, Trinidad and Agia Ekaterini denote that in Kampos there are believers of the catholic and orthodox cult respectively.
Tarampados
Renowned for the dovecotes “planted” in its green valley. Except for the exquisite examples of the Tinian local architect, it’s worth seeing the inner village and taking a walk in the old path of the 18th century.
Xinara
Under Xobourgo, the stronghold of Catholicism was set in Tinos. Here there is the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of the island, the Virgin of the Rosary (Catholic Archdiocese Cathedral) and the Bishop’s Palace, an old seminary, which now houses the museum of ecclesiastical treasures and files of the Catholic parishes.
Perastra
A picturesque village, which was a pass from Kato Meri to Chora. It’s oil mill, the dovecots and the watermills are interesting.
Skalados
It connects Ano and Kato Meri and thanks to its stone stairs, offers panoramic view to the inland of Tinos.
Koumaros
The outdoor theater of Kostas Tsoclis, where music and theatre performances are hosted, gave life again to the village, built on the steep hillside of Fourka mountain.
Kato Kleisma
Agricultural, greenish settlement. See the church of Aghia Anastasia, Panagia and the old oil mills.
Kalloni
Or Kelia. In the spotlight, the catholic monastery of Aghia Ipakoi, which was founded in 1648 by the bishop of Tinos Nikolaos Rigos and gathered ascetics and hermits. See also, the church of Aghios Zacharias with the beautiful pebble yard.
Karkados
The tiny village, where you can see the “small pisa” (the bell tower of the church of the Savior with the large tilt reminds of Pisa tower), was named by the ancient quarry of copper which is located on the left side.
Krokos
The homeland of the medical philosopher Markakis Zalonis. Here grows the homonymous plant crocus.
Aetofolia
Small community, built in the North Wind mountain, offering view to Kalloni, Karkados and the lowlands. The pebbled neat courtyards and the Museum of Traditional Pottery impress. Nearby, you can see the ruins of the medieval town of Maiden Tower.
Sklavochorio
The homeland of Nikolas Gyzis, one of the greatest modern Greek painters. Except for his house, which you can visit, you can see the church of Holy Trinity and the traditional wash room.
Agapi
The church of Agios Agapitos at Griza, with the stream and the dovecotes gave its name to this beautiful village of Tinos, which stands out for the lintels decorated with folk motifs and the Tinian old wash house. At the old school a Museum of Photography is being established.
Smardakito
It’s location on the southeastern edges of Rahes mountain, allows the visitors to overlook the villages of plains at Kato Meri and the Xobourgo rock. In the central square, you will see the church of Aghios Antonios with its tall bell tower.
Komi
Rich place, with prairies, windmills, dovecotes, flowery plazas and the largest stone arch of the island. In the old catholic church of Agios Ioannis, you will see the old instrument, which is preserved till nowadays.
