The former Othonos & Leotsakou square was built in the 19th century (1860-1870) and together with Spianada in Corfu is one of the largest marble paved squares in Greece. The statue of Andreas Miaoulis –that is how it got its new name, the marble Cultural Centre, the plentiful Public Library with the 35.000 books, the Historical Archive Building, the first High School of liberated Greece where people such as Eleftherios Venizelos, Petros Protopapadakis and Andreas Sigros graduated from, all these compose the architectural and cultural tapestry of Miaouli square.
